What personal data we collect and why we collect it

This notice is to explain why we collect your personal data, and what we do with it, and to ensure we are working in accordance with EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

We have a legitimate interest in collecting that information because without it we would not be able to publish your comment. We will not publish your email address and you may request for your name to be included (in part or whole) in your comment.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

We will contact you to confirm the publication of your comment and reserve the right to contact you again in the future regarding updates on projects related to Max Panamax. This contact will not be regular and we will not share your information with third parties for communication purposes.

What rights you have over your data

You may request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you at any time. You may also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. We are legally obliged to respond to your request within thirty (30) days.

We may use your details to contact you at a future date with news related to the Max Panamax series but will not share your data with third parties.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie includes no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after 1 day.

This website uses Jetpack, which uses cookies to help our product function more smoothly and track other data that we use to power features. The cookies used by Jetpack and information on how to control them are outlined here.

We also use Google Analytics to collect information about visitor behaviour on our website. Google Analytics stores information about what pages you visit, how long you are on the site, how you got here and what you click on. This Analytics data is collected via a JavaScript tag in the pages of our site and is not tied to personally identifiable information. We therefore do not collect or store your personal information (e.g. your name or address) so this information cannot be used to identify who you are.

Blocking and deleting cookies

Most browsers allow you to refuse to accept cookies. For example:

  • Internet Explorer – to  refuse all cookies click “Tools”, “Internet Options”, “Privacy”, and select “Block all cookies” using the sliding selector
  • Firefox – to block all cookies click “Tools”, “Options”, and un-check “Accept cookies from sites” in the “Privacy” box or select “Clear private data” if you want to delete all cookies.
